About Splinters Woodworks

My name is Dave Mitchell, I am a custom wood artisan working in a single person shop located in beautiful Northwest Montana right outside of Glacier National Park.

I will work with you to create that one of a kind project for you.

Splinters Woodworks has evolved over the years from working wherever I could find a place to work to:

a balcony storage room in a small apartment
a friends shop over his garage
a small garage under my house
to a small shop of my own here in Montana
to a currently expanded area of the old shop in Montana

I am now finally able to set up all my tools and work on multiple projects in different stages without having to move equipment around. I even might have room for some new equipment.

Creating Online Presence

In 2005, I decided I needed to enter a new world and offer my custom woodworking online by creating this website.

Coming up with Splinters as a business name just seemed to materialize one day to me, as great ideas sometimes do.

I had pondered for a name for a while which would be easy to remember and be related to what I love to do.

Splinters are typically connected with wood and seem to happen frequently, so it seemed an appropriate choice.

I went searching for domain names and found Splinters Woodworks.com was available. I purchased the domain and with the help of a friend, the Splinter Woodworks web site was born.

This web site has been a work in progress for a few years now, one which has turned into a well functioning means of being found by clients around the world. I continue to strive to perfect it still and know that it will continue to grow and mature as time passes.

At the same time my skills in the shop have also continued to grow with each and every project I do.
