Splinters Woodworks Tagline

Whats new with Splinters Woodworks

This dream started many years ago while I was building projects in a very small storage area on the balcony of an apartment. The thought process began a couple years ago when I first purchased my domain name. Finally, after much pondering with different ideas my logo was created by a friend/co-worker who just happened to have recently graduated with a degree in graphic arts from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. YOU ARE AWESOME SAM!! Thanks for all your efforts.. Once the logo was created I chose colors and the tag line and I was off.

My creator of the site templete is the owner of Big Sky Fishing. While providing me lots of insight, encouragement and much harassment and motivation to keep going. He got at least one free lunch for his efforts with more to follow before we are finished. Thanks Jim for all the guidance you have provided. YOU ROCK DUDE!!!

(newest post date will follow)

May 10, 2007 progress continues with new formatted pages online for cribbage boards and foot stools as well as an overall change in look and actions.

April 21, 2007 The new format is up and running. There is still some tweaking that needs to be done, only minor changes at this point I hope...but then we know how that goes.

April 11, 2007 I am taking Splinters to a full time adventure level..so in preparation I am in the process of removing all affiliate information and strictly using this site as a means of promoting Splinters works. During this I will also restructure the site to present a easier user interface.

April 1, 2007 .......OK OK ....I know.. I know..no excuses.... Major restructuring begining with main focus being directed to the products I make and sell. Lots of sawdust flying in the shop

February 4, 2007 Gee time sure does fly when you are having fun.. Lots has changed since my last entry..guess it should have since it was over two months ago. I have revamped my review pages and have now several tool reviews done with several more to do. I will use the new review pages to get back into magazine and book reviews soon. I have been burning the midnight oil downloading and formatting a huge data feed from Rocklers..finally got it to work and now have to create more content and get them and the content placed throughout the site. It is a dynamic process which allows scripts to display where I decide and changes each time the page is loaded.

December 3, 2006 Wow...where do the days, weeks, and months go?? I have been making changes and correcting formating on pages. Have restructured the book review pages and created a new template for books, magazines, tools, etc.....

October 11, 2006 Even though I have neglected updating this page for some time ...I have been busy creating new content for the site and formatting pictures and redoing photo format pages to display them in a better viewing format...created a dynamic database displaying books about Glacier National Park...stay tuned for more changes to come in the near future..

August 26, 2006 Created a new table to display various cribbageboards I have built. Worked on cleaning up code to make it run better.

August 24, 2006 Worked through the steps to upload my books table and got it to work..yea I am dynamic driven now.

August 17, 2006 It has continued to be a very productive week. Loaded software to convert spreadsheets into database.(Navicat) Did some testing of the process and got it to work, so now have to get spreadsheets put together to create the dynamic databases (PHP/MYSQL) for different areas of the site. Continued converting my photo and cribbage board pages to a new format to give them better presentation with additional information.

August 12, 2006 It has been a very productive weekend. Have converted all current pages to PHP and began the process of selecting books and items to go into the database which will rotate them on the site. Also begin converting my photo pages to a new format to give them better presentation with additional information

August 9, 2006 I keep forgetting to update this page...has been a fast and crazy summer. I am in the process of converting my site to a dynamic php site, so be patient with me while my mentor guides me through this process.

June 25, 2006 Wow where has time gone...it is over one year from my launch date and I still have a long ways to go. My motivator has left the state and now only harasses me by instant messenger or email. Considering my events of the last few days, perhaps I need to use some of this time being hobbled and get busy on creating content.

December 8, 2005 Added Paypal as a means for customers to pay for their purchase.

December 6, 2005- Worked on revising and making more indepth side menus. Learning more CSS as I go..It makes changes very easy. creating more sub pages and all the links that go with them.

December 5, 2005- Worked on photos that will be placed in different pages.

December 2, 2005- Built the pages to insert project photos and tools photos. redid book and magazine review pages.

November 29, 2005-continue building more content and refining content already here. It is a slow process, But I have been challenged by my mentor to make progress on one page a day. I shall do my best not to disappoint him. Had pictures taken today of me actually working on equipment preparing wood for my next projects. Hope to work on getting those photos and descriptions on next.

November 15, 2005 - Wow..the fall has flew by. I have been adding pictures and content to different pages. I have neglected keeping this page up to date. Hopefully I will be better

July 15, 2005 - Working on creating content off and on for most of month.

July 10, 2005 - Received computer and began getting used to it

The project was completed a couple days before it had to leave for Seattle to attend the wedding festivities. Unfortunately I was not able to accompany it to the big city, however I did receive rave reviews from everyone involved. (see comments inCustomer Comments

June 28, 2005 - Received approval from Amazon.comand Rockler .com to become an affiliate member

While going through the above process I was also busy in my shop creating a custom box to hold heirloom silverware (below), which was being given as a wedding present.

Custom Silverware Box

June 25, 2005 - After many hours of works, lots of questions, decisions and a break to go endulge at a local Chinese eatery, my site was launched live. YEA!!!!!!

June 22, 2005 - Decided I needed to upgrade my computer to make this whole process a bit easier. I ordered the Dell Inspiron 600M laptop.

June 9, 2005 - After researching several hosting services I chose Host My Site.com as my hosting provider. The online application process was simple and quick and I was on my way.

Somewhere through time and in the beginning these pages were blank, but the ideas were great and unending. The hope was to create a great resource and many special projects and pieces of artwork for a lot of people.
